Common Attendance Questions

How do I contact the school if my student cannot be at school?

• You may contact the school via email or phone, with a valid phone number or email address that is attached to a parent/guardian. 
• Parents and guardians may also come in person to the attendance office during school hours

If my student needs to be out on a trip/visit a family member/do a school tour, will they be excused?

• Please understand that California state law only allows for a small category of absences to be fully excused, such as times of bereavement, doctor's visits, documented illness, or military training
• Common absence reasons that are not fully excused include family vacations, trips, driving tests, or personal appointments
  • Absences in these categories will be coded as PUX (Parent Unexcused Absence), signifying that although it is not an excused absence, the school has verified that the parent/guardian is aware and in approval of the absence
