9th Grade
Students will take one semester each of Ethnic Studies and Wellness for Success in Ninth grade.
Ethnic Studies
Ethnic Studies centers the stories, experiences, and knowledge of People of Color through challenging and dismantling systems of oppression. It is a course that cultivates communities that are committed to wellness, liberation, and solidarity.
Wellness for Success
Wellness for Success is a one semester course designed to enable Freshmen a comprehensive overview of college and career options, health, and Driver’s Education that will help students make decisions about academic plans, college and career, mental and physical health and Driver’s Education. Students will demonstrate their understanding of career paths through a variety of assessments, projects, job simulations, speeches and research assignments. Students will be able to gain the knowledge and confidence necessary for making future college and career decisions. Additionally, students will be able to learn how to make healthy choices to support their physical and mental health. Lastly, students will gain exposure to smart driver’s education choices. 10th Grade
World History, Culture & Geography CP
(10th Grade Level) Course curriculum examines major turning points in the shaping of the modern world. Students will also study global conflict and cooperation, interdependence, and the important historical events of the 20th and early 21st centuries.
AP World History
(10th Grade Level)AP World History is designed to be the equivalent of a two-semester introductory college or university world history course. In AP World History students investigate significant events, individuals, developments, and processes in six historical periods from approximately 8000 B.C.E. to the present. Students develop and use the same skills, practices, and methods employed by historians: analyzing primary and secondary sources; making historical comparisons; utilizing reasoning about contextualization, causation, and continuity and change over time; and developing historical arguments. The course provides five themes that students explore throughout the course in order to make connections among historical developments in different times and places: interaction between humans and the environment; development and interaction of cultures; state building, expansion, and conflict; creation, expansion, and interaction of economic systems; and development and transformation of social structures.

U.S. History CP
(11th Grade Level) Curriculum covers the major events and changes in American society during the 20th and early 21st centuries.
AP U.S. History
(11th Grade Level) This is a rigorous college level course that is designed to prepare students for the AP exam.
Prerequisites: Teacher recommendation, writing sample, GPA analysis

Psychology
(11/12th Grade Level) Psychology is the study of human behavior. This UC-approved college prep elective will cover topics such as the biological basis of behavior, perception, altered states of consciousness, learning, memory, social psychology and how we interact with others, personality, stress management, psychological disorders and abnormal psychology and treatment and therapy.
AP Psychology
(11/12th Grade Level) This is a rigorous and academically challenging college-level course. Psychology is the study of human behavior. This UC-approved college prep elective will cover topics such as the biological basis of behavior, perception, altered states of consciousness, learning, memory, social psychology and how we interact with others, personality, stress management, psychological disorders and abnormal psychology and treatment and therapy.

- Students will only take one of the options for Government and Economics
American Government CP
(12th Grade Level) In this senior year course, students will apply knowledge gained in the previous history courses in order to study the United States government institutions. Students will study the rights and responsibilities of being a United States citizen.
AP American Government
(12th Grade Level) This is a rigorous and academically challenging college-level course with extensive writing and research. Curriculum prepares students for the AP exam.

Economics CP
(12th Grade Level) This senior year course covers fundamental economic concepts, financial institutions, graphing, statistics, and economic decision making. Lessons and assignments will also cover the interplay between economic concepts and American Culture.
AP Macroeconomics
(12th Grade Level) This is a rigorous and academically challenging college-level course with extensive writing and research. Curriculum covers fundamental economic concepts such as financial markets/institutions, graphing, statistics and economic decision making. Students prepare for and take the AP exam in May of the school year.
