Accounting
Business and Finance Pathway
Introduction to Business
Skilled leaders motivate people or groups to achieve a common goal. Skilled managers plan, organize, staff, direct, and control an organization or group for the purpose of accomplishing a goal using available resources efficiently and effectively. This course explores leadership styles and economics, personal finance and soft skills, while providing a background in business. Students engage with their peers, business professional, and their community to actively practice the 21 Century skills of Communication, Collaboration, Creativity and Critical Thinking.

Accounting I CP
Accounting is the “heart” of every business. Students will learn financial and managerial accounting as it pertains to sole proprietorships, partnerships, and corporations with special emphasis on the accounting cycle, preparing financial statements and reports, analyzing results, and making sound business decisions to promote a financially healthy business. This course is part of the Finance and Business Industry Sector and the Career Pathway is Accounting Services. This course earns articulated credits via the Jefferson Union High School District’s articulation agreement with Skyline College.

Automotive
Automotive Pathway
Automotive Technology 1
Introduces students to the wide variety of automotive vehicles, students learn basic car construction, how to remove, repair and replace component parts. A safety unit is covered.

Automotive Technology 2
Students build on the knowledge and skills acquired in Automotive Technology 1 to complete an engine overhaul the first semester. During the second semester, students are exposed to electronic computer controls. General troubleshooting, service maintenance, mechanical restoration, pollution control device work, suspension and transmission service skills are also covered. Students who pass the course with a “B” or higher may qualify for direct access to the Skyline College Automotive Program.

Construction
Construction Pathway
Construction Basics 1
Fundamental residential construction concepts, terminology, and practices, including mathematics, ratios and scales, safety, tools, framing, materials, and hands-on construction basics. There will be an emphasis on green and sustainable building practices.

Construction Basics 2
Upper level wood technology classes provide more in-depth training in furniture-making, woodturning and cabinet-making through a series of individual and team projects. Students are also introduced to basic carpentry skills and elements of stagecraft by means of community-based projects and work with the high school theater arts department. Prerequisite: “C” or better in Wood Technology 1

Information and Technology Pathway
Exploring Computer Science CP
Exploring Computer Science is a year-long course consisting of 6 units. The course is focused around both computer science and computational practice. The units utilize a variety of tools/platforms and resources. Each unit has a final project around the following topics:

- Programming
- Robotics
- Artificial Intelligence

Fashion
Fashion Design and Construction Pathway
Fashion Design and Construction 1
Fashion Design and Construction 1 is an introductory course into Fashion Design and clothing construction. Students will be able to create sketches, designs, and construct articles of clothing. This course will provide a comprehensive understanding of the elements and principles of fashion design as applied to textiles and fashion and use them to evaluate their own designs as well as the designs of well-known designers. This course will also explore manufactured and natural made textiles and their use in fashion as well as the characteristics, production and maintenance of textiles. Students will explore the relationship between American historical events and fashion styles.

Advanced Fashion Design and Construction CP
This course is the capstone course for Fashion Design and Construction and expands on the skills developed in Fashion and Design Construction 1. Students enrolled in Fashion Design 2 gain knowledge for careers in fashion design, manufacturing and merchandising. Topics include apparel and appearance, elements and principles of design; color theory; history of fashion; textiles; creating custom apparel and accessories; altering and remodeling clothing; apparel for individuals with special needs; wardrobe planning, budgeting, and selection; and apparel analysis.
